I am sick of the bacon meme. I don't understand why people insist on maintaining it, other than because it is a light-hearted way to subconsciously exclude certain groups from conversations, present company excepted. As far as the plate itself goes, I don't buy the more extreme things I've heard about carbohydrates, but I never found myself suffering for having avoided grains and reduced fruit, although I did suffer for having eaten too few vegetables and protein. Your mileage may vary I guess.
