My impression is that MariaDB has good ARM support out of the box. I am not sure about ARM support status of other popular DBs.

My impression is that MariaDB has good ARM support out of the box. I am not sure about ARM support status of other popular DBs.
- spmurrayzzz 5y agoMongo has done a significant amount of work to optimize for ARM. And from my own testing, that work has paid off both on bare metal as well as cloud (specifically, the AWS Graviton2 instance type).
- 9thbit 5y agoWe tried using it as a drop in for MySQL docker containers on new ARM Macs and it is very slow, nearly as slow as emulating an x86 MySQL container.
- michaelcampbell 5y agoDocker on Mac used to have horrible I/O inefficiencies, which would cripple a DB I'd reckon. Is that still the case?
- edgyquant 5y agoSeems to be for me, yes, running a simple yarn install takes 10-15 minutes inside docker while it takes 2-3 minutes tops just using the terminal
- evanelias 5y agoOfficial ARM builds of MySQL 8 are available. Works great on my m1 mac! For docker images you just have to get them from https://hub.docker.com/r/mysql/mysql-server https://hub.docker.com/r/mysql/mysql-server instead of https://hub.docker.com/_/mysql https://hub.docker.com/_/mysql
