Can we prove there is no teapot on an orbit around the sun between earth and mars, too small to be detected by telescopes?
The question isn't "Can we prove that we are not in a simulation", the question is "How likely is it that we are in a simulation".
And the answer is: We don't know.
Sure, there are hypotheses about how super evolved species (Matrioshka-Brain-Capable) would simulate multiple universes, so its likely that ours is not the real one, but this assumes that we know anything about what a species on that level of scientific capability would do...which we don't.
