my android phones did the same. even if I have a data enabled sim card, I wasn't able to update anything without connecting to some Wi-Fi at least once :/ what's next? not able to use toilet paper until you download an app ? ps: they're all android one ( meaning, no extra editing of the OS from the constructor )
