I spent 6 years in a top 3rd unvieristy in US, working on Nanotech. My resepect for research is not same after that. I felt everybody runs after Science/Nature papers and funding.. I haven't found honest curiousity to discover new things. The funding organizations are also to be partially blamed, instead of funding a good idea / projects, they started influencing and interfering in the research for their interest.
