Really, the most secure business model of all is a dictatorship. But customers want and deserve a bit of freedom, even if that freedom comes with risks.

- bradknowles 5y agoThey’ve seen what happens with malware and sideloading. We saw that with Cydia. We continue to see that with the Enterprise App Store solutions, where malware authors buy or steal an Enterprise license, then develop their own malware App Store. The only thing preventing this from happening to you is that the malware authors have to get you to install their Mobile Device Manager certificate, so that they can completely and totally own your device remotely. That’s why I run my own MDM system, because on each device there can be only one. If I already have my own MDM certificate installed on the device, then no other MDM certificate can be installed. And then I am hopefully more secure against malware. Don’t tell me that you don’t have any relatives who would blindly install whatever they’re told will give them access to their favorite game or their favorite political podcast or whatever. Because we all have such family who would or have already done that sort of stupidity.
