India Seeks to Escape an Asian Future Led by China
- giuliomagnifico 5y agoWell, I hope so for the people of India but the Indian PM doesn’t a lot less “authoritarian” than Xi, I think India will establish more relations with Russia and Turkey than UK (in the future), that are -more or less- on the same (non)democratic level and have common interest.
- achow 5y agoIndia has been deeply 'non-aligned' to that of West so far, and this was simply because West was/is confused bunch - policies in middle east, cutting deals with Saudi, winking at Pakistan, ignoring China's ascedence powered by stolen IP and dollars from West..
- naruvimama 5y agoEuropeans and westerners generally put themselves on high moral horses, whether it is free market, free press, state violence or freedom of religion. The reality is that if you look closely many have state religions, media tax, shady deals (incl. with Iran & Saddam), flexible morality (Germany's China policy) & protectionism (+ tax holes) India adjusted for the fact that per capita GDP is 1/3rd that of Mexico, fares pretty well. Modi might be India's first "Free Indian" Prime minister, the colonial legacy still dominates every other office including the judiciary.
