Sendxmpp as a Replacement for Mail(1)
- majewsky 5y agoShameless plug: I built something similar, also in Go, but with Matrix instead of XMPP. https://github.com/majewsky/script2matrix https://github.com/majewsky/script2matrix
- binwiederhier 5y agoThis is exactly what I made https://ntfy.sh/ https://ntfy.sh/ for. It's much easier to use since you don't have to set anything up on the server. No accounts. Thanks for the link.
- encryptluks2 5y agoAwesome work. I really love useful small programs like this that are cross-platform.
- binwiederhier 5y agoMuch appreciated.
- artificialLimbs 5y ago>> since you don't have to set anything up on the server. But also there are no secrets, is that correct? LOVE the app anyway. I've got access to iOS/Mac, and a dev account. I've got a number of personal constraints, but I'd be interested in at least taking a look at working on an iOS client. Shoot me an email if you'd like.
- binwiederhier 5y agoOh man 6 days ago and I'm just seeing this now. Thanks for the kind words. I'll shoot you an email that's for sure. :-) > But also there are no secrets, is that correct? The topic is the secret. You can make it as easy or complex as you like. If that's not enough for you, as of the latest version [Android app update pending], you can add users and manage access with an ACL.
- leobg 5y agoNice tool. Btw, your name. Reference to Westernhagen? If so, it’s one of my favorites, too.
- binwiederhier 5y ago> Reference to Westernhagen Yes it is. From 20 years ago or so when I was listening to the radio and looking for a username :-D
- MattJ100 5y agosendxmpp (and its many incarnations: https://wiki.xmpp.org/web/User:MDosch/Sendxmpp_incarnations https://wiki.xmpp.org/web/User:MDosch/Sendxmpp_incarnations ) is great. If you prefer a hosted/HTTP option, there is also https://slickmsg.com/ https://slickmsg.com/ worth mentioning as a way to plumb stuff to XMPP. Also many web apps use apprise, which has XMPP support.
- Zash 5y agoIf you really can't stand the thought of installing a single statically compiled Go binary to use XMPP, many XMPP servers also have HTTP API interfaces like https://modules.prosody.im/mod_post_msg.html https://modules.prosody.im/mod_post_msg.html or https://modules.prosody.im/mod_rest.html https://modules.prosody.im/mod_rest.html which can be used to send messages with curl
