Having some python always installed can be nice as an advanced calculator or short ad-hoc scripts. My non tech mom needed help to wrestle a large set of semi structured data into a csv to use with Excel. On my dev machine I would have solved the problem in a minute with 5 lines of Python. On her machine, without any coding environment, I was completely stuck. Eventually figured out you can use the developer console in chrome to run some interactive Javascript and problem solved.
