  That's a good hunch, and pretty much why they don't really know (yet). There isn't any context to go by. It will be interesting to see once they're done the analysis if it was even goat. If not, your solution would possibly be next in line. If not a sacrifice, the bone could be used in a type of forecasting spell, like tossing it and reading which way it points, etc. I have a feeling instead of "joke" they mean "riddle," since that seems more like what they have on their hands.
