SpaceX winner ‘insanely disappointed’ he had to give away his trip to space
- daminimal 5y agoOh, one of those sites that don’t serve EU readers because of GDPR.

- madarco 5y ago"Our European visitors are important to us." And yet you didn't find the time to add a GDPR cookie plugin to your site
- blitzar 5y agoKinda makes you wonder just what they are doing with the data that makes them non compliant...
- mlindner 5y agoUsually the reason is as short as "we can't afford to pay (or don't want to pay) someone to figure out what we need to do to be compliant".
- SecurityLagoon 5y agoYup, the URL should be changed. US only websites are alienating huge amounts of HN readership.
- curmudgeon22 5y ago> He opened up about his out-of-the-blue, dream-come-true windfall, the letdown when he realized he topped SpaceX’s weight restrictions of 250 pounds (113 kilograms) and his offer to the one person he knew would treasure the flight as much as himself. Four months later, he figures probably fewer than 50 people know he was the actual winner.
- rasz 5y agoLosing weight was never on the table then?
- batmaniam 5y agoHe considered it, but at his size it would have been kinda unhealthy to shed that many pounds in a short period of time: > “I was trying to figure how I could drop 80 pounds in six months, which, I mean, it’s possible, but it’s not the most healthy thing in the world to do,” Hippchen said.
- demadog 5y agoJust over a lb a week is totally healthy. 2lbs a week and he’s fine. But understand if that’s his choice!
- dan1234 5y agoTo drop 80lbs in 6 months would need 3lbs drop per week, but with a BMI of 46 this guy really needs to be losing weight regardless of any potential trips to space!
- blitzar 5y agobut at his size it is unhealthy to NOT shed that many pounds
