Since you don't seem to like to read much, here's a specific statistic that shows how the statistic you presented is grossly misrepresenting the situation by masking reality:
"CDC saw 51% increase in suicide attempts by adolescent girls during pandemic [age 12-25]"
https://nbcmontana.com/news/nation-world/cdc-saw-51-increase-in-suicide-attempts-by-adolescent-girls-during-pandemic https://nbcmontana.com/news/nation-world/cdc-saw-51-increase...
And the source: https://www.cdc.gov/mmwr/volumes/70/wr/mm7024e1.htm https://www.cdc.gov/mmwr/volumes/70/wr/mm7024e1.htm
But who cares if there's more young girls killing themselves if less older people kill themselves, AMIRITE?
- DanBC 5y agoWe're not seeing an increase in deaths by suicide, and most countries are not seeing an increase in deaths in that age group. https://www.bmj.com/content/371/bmj.m4352.full?ijkey=NDYZgh6xGYgX9az&keytype=ref https://www.bmj.com/content/371/bmj.m4352.full?ijkey=NDYZgh6...
- loceng 5y agoSo quality of mental health gets written off as unimportant - a 51% increase in attempts doesn't matter, only if they were successful would you care? Is that what you're suggesting?
