What type of mask is she wearing?
- andreareina 5y agoI'm a former asthmatic. Even cloth masks are restrictive enough that they'd have been an issue for me.
- GekkePrutser 5y agoMe too :( it feels like people like us are forgotten. But I saw Denmark has just dropped all covid measures including masks so hopefully we're all getting there
- edgyquant 5y agoYeah me as well + I wear glasses so I can’t see unless the weather is absolutely perfect (little humidity etc.)
- IX-103 5y agoIt turns out a good fitting mask is essential for comfort. I had a problem with masks being hard to breathe in and fogging up my glasses. Then I found a good set of N95 masks that have a real solid fit. It's loose and flexible enough to be breathable, and has a solid seal across the nose so moisture doesn't get near my glasses. You can tell it's a good fit because it deflates/inflates likes a balloon when you breathe.
- edgyquant 5y agoI did manage to find sports masks I wear when I got the gym that do make it much easier to breath, although they fog up my glasses still so I take those off when I'm there.
- margalabargala 5y agoI actually have the opposite experience with my exercise-induced asthma. It's quite dry and cold where I am currently, due to winter. Wearing a cloth mask increases the temperature and humidity of the air I breathe when working hard, and makes it less likely that asthma will be triggered. It's a significant enough effect that I will sometimes wear a cloth mask specifically for this effect when doing something strenuous outdoors.
- aidenn0 5y agoThat would probably be true if we lived somewhere with actual winters. My daughter's PE class is in the afternoon, and the lowest high-temperature we've had all winter is 63.
- margalabargala 5y agoGotcha, that makes sense. The high today for me was 28.
- andreareina 5y agoDidn't think about that, and I did sometimes put the mask on outside for comfort!
- fifteenforty 5y agoI suspect that’s exactly the problem. Cloth masks are often less breathable than N95s!
- andreareina 5y agoCould be. Unfortunately N95s are hard to find by here. I can't say that I've noticed much difference with my KN95s versus the cloth mask.
- aidenn0 5y agoShe switched from cloth to paper and it did improve things somewhat; I think a lot of the effect is that it seals less on the side though, so the results of them requiring masks outside is that my daughter is wearing a less effective mask inside.
- fifteenforty 5y agoHave you tried her in an N95?
- aidenn0 5y agoI've worn those during fire season; I feel like any benefit from breathing would be erased by how uncomfortable they are on the face.
- fifteenforty 5y agoWas that a cup style one? Depending on your facial shape, they can be very uncomfortable. Try a 3M Aura flat fold. Life changing for most healthcare workers.
- aidenn0 5y agoYeah, the ones that were first manufactured on the same machines to make brassieres.
