- philistine 5y agoGive it a couple more months and Linux will boot on Apple Silicon. Give it a couple of years and Microsoft will wisen up and start licensing Windows for Apple Silicon too. Then we'll be back to where we were before the architecture switch.
- marcan_42 5y agoLinux already boots on Apple Silicon and has for almost a year; give it a couple more months (if that) and we'll have a reasonably user friendly installer for it and enough hardware working to be worth using ;) (Basically I'm going to make battery stats work, polish up the install process, re-do the CPU frequency scaling driver, and ship it)
- cehrlich 5y agoIt’s obviously not valid for all use cases, but Windows already runs great in Parallels. If I give it half the CPU cores and RAM of my M1/16GB Air, it benchmarks around the same as an Intel Quad Core 13” Pro.
