The text is "A well regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed."
That means that the right of the people to keep and bear Arms shall not be infringed. It does not mean that only the militia has the right to keep and bear arms.
- krapp 5y agoThank you, Constitutional scholar 'yes_really,' the Supreme Court will no doubt be humbled by your brilliant and objectively correct interpretation. Clearly they never needed to bother arguing the point in Heller vs. DC, they could have just read the text of the amendment, it's so obvious.
