We have no idea how much of a savings $16k is as an absolute number across your AWS accounts. It would be more meaningful to express the percentage you were able to reduce your bill by. $16k out of $17k is a lot... $16k out of $1M is not much...
- pzubkiewicz 5y agoThat's a fair point. Thank you for that remark. EBS costs alone were $100,259 in October, so it's 16% less monthly. Total estimated cost of EBS for January is $81,195 (includes two more days till the end of the month). So, it's over 18% saving. This was achieved by applying single insight found by CloudPouch application. Total cost of the account is not relevant here, as there are many systems deployed (yes, not the best approach, but that's the way it is ¯\_(ツ)_/¯). All in all, I agree with you @tedmiston, that $16k is not much if you pay $1M monthly. But over the year it is $192k which is probably a yearly salary of a cloud architect that you could have hired for your team. That shows real value of money. Bear in mind, all this comes from the application that costs $99 per year. I think it's a bargin.
