The pandemic played out in an interesting way here. The County noticed sharply increasing infections and wanted to shut the place down. The City that hosts it gets a huge amount of income from this operation and was facing turning off the lights and firing all the cops, so they let the band play on. It was an intense stand off. Amusingly, the media circus and Internet humbug that carried on about this was all about Elon Musk who had zero input on the legal lines drawn and no choice but to try to keep the plant open because of commercial obligations, board members, and all the rest of the usual suspects.
