Apple M1 Max and Pro Outrun Intel and AMD in Single-Thread Benchmark Sprint
- skavi 5y agoThis is old news. We’ve seen these exact SKUs compared before with better benchmarks. I was expecting a comparison to mobile Alder Lake at least.
- NathanOsullivan 5y agoThe article is a summary of https://www.cpubenchmark.net/singleThread.html https://www.cpubenchmark.net/singleThread.html as it stood at the time. Intel 12th gen is fairly dominant on this particular benchmark right now.
- EricE 5y agoAnd with the M2 Apple will likely leapfrog once again. Also, water is wet :) What's really nice is it's great to see single thread performance once again be a thing. CPUs have been stagnant for so long that I have 10 year old machines that are more than close enough to modern machines performance wise to still be relevant. Ahh, the days when if you didn't upgrade at least every 3 years you could really tell :p
- donkarma 5y agoApple should be much more ahead than that, seems like they're only ahead in single thread due to decoder and gate size differences?
