- brador 5y agoHow do you find 3 monkeys in a huge wooded area?
- rasz 5y agoFootage from the scene of the incident https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mGae5vkMekA https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mGae5vkMekA

- ei8htyfi5e 5y agoWasn’t this story the exact plot of Outbreak? On a serious note, if the CDC told them to test for something, wouldn’t that answer the question about what the monkeys could have had?
- abracadaniel 5y agoHerpes. The above article just leaves it up to your imagination, but as other articles point out "According to the CDC, this species commonly spreads herpes virus B through saliva, feces or urine."[1] Which explains why she was given a rabies vaccine and treated with a course of Valacyclovir. - sonotathrowaway 5y agoIIRC it was based on a true story; there was an Ebola outbreak in Atlanta when a monkey escaped. - sigmaprimus 5y agoThis story is going to give me nightmares, it sounds like the plot of a horror film. I feel terrible for her and hope that it turns out to be nothing. My dark sense of humor has to ask the question "Yeah but was she wearing her mask?"
- runjake 5y agoIn fact, it is the plot of a horror film: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/28_Days_Later https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/28_Days_Later
- archi42 5y agoThe most expensive films Peter Jackson ever did (at the time of filming, that is) features that story hook: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Braindead_(film) https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Braindead_(film) (too be precise, Wikipedia is says it's a rat-monkey hybrid, but I think that should be close enough)
- runjake 5y agoNever heard of it. Added to my list. Thanks for mentioning it!
- EvanKnowles 5y agoSuch a great terrible film.
- xhkkffbf 5y agoWasn't there that film "12 Monkeys"? I think it was filmed just down the road in Baltimore.
- wiskinator 5y agoWell this is nightmare fuel.
- gowld 5y agohgb100 is super sketchy. - EvanKnowles 5y agoWeird, don't know if they changed something maybe, but I'm in South Africa and I can hit it.

- phendrenad2 5y agoWow I forgot how hard it is to read the combination of "weird thing happens" and "local news outlets write about it first". Not much in the way of details. How close did she get? Did she actually touch any of the monkeys, or their cages? Local news never asks the interesting questions.
