I've never heard of prepping for a university course - the whole point of taking the course is to learn.

  Competitive students I knew regularly prepared for university courses in advance. In their view, the whole point of taking the course is not to learn, but to optimize their study/game the system enough to earn as high marks as possible for professional opportunities in the future. As they were both hard workers and optimized for marks, their tactics generally worked for their goals. At the time, I believed that if you focus on learning, the marks will come, but soon saw the results that this isn't necessarily true.
