DLSS has been a huge step forward for anti-aliasing and gaming in high resolution (and I'd argue it's still cutting-edge, because AMD hasn't managed to copy it to the same quality level).

Man I hope upscaling loses fashion soon, or eventually. The amount of real data we're going to overwrite accidentally or even just mentally forget about is insane. I prefer looking at the real life rather than the guesses of what a computer thought may have been within the cracks. Something being naturally ugly is better than being sometimes beautifully fake and uglier and fake. The FF7 video in that post is absolutely terrible and shows how much worse it can get when upscaling. It just completely fails on the creative art decision to dither lighting, and thinks it was a texture on the original object.
