We don't have Robot Butlers yet
- tpoacher 5y agoYou mean Rocky IV lied to us?
- AtlasBarfed 5y agoPeople of course jump immediately to walking android. But I think the walking dog robot/quadruped or something similar could be really useful. It can carry things, function as a power bank, "fetch" things (depending on navigation) at a nearby store or restaurant for you, maybe function as security or monitor on dangerous streets. Fetch help if you're injured or disabled. Help lift things. Hell, maybe even carry you on big ones. You don't need to solve as many balance issues, lower expectations of intelligence/capability, etc.
- pomian 5y agoNice and clear summary of the state of the art. The Sony video in the article was good too. i think the lessons learned from the Palm Pilot, hand writing system, was a good example of how to make useful robots. Instead of perfecting hand recognition and it's complexities, it took about 3 minutes to teach a human how to write, so the computer could understand. very simple. very innovative.
