  Original source doesn't require me to run Cloudflare's JS and archive.is does.

    it does require you to run the js that shits a 50% banner on the screen after you start reading though, IMO far worse than any JS Cloudflare is sending

    Archive.is isn't behind Cloudflare, but they cloned Cloudflare's captcha page CSS. You can tell because 1. It doesn't say Cloudflare anywhere and 2. It uses ReCaptcha (Cloudflare uses hCaptcha)
