I don't find this level of panic warranted. They mention the horror of marriage licenses being on blockchain. Ok, so it was switched from one type of database to another. So what? Your marriage was tracked by the state authority before and it's tracked by the state authority after, they are just writing it down in a different place.
"Digital abundance" is also a bit of a myth. Yes after somebody spends all the money and time to make something then it can be copied, but unless you expect the world to run on the backs of pure volunteers at some point you need a way to pay the people making the original work. Which is why we already have IP law, and so even if successful and someday NFT ownership becomes the basis for legal enforcement, it again will just be that people have changed where they write the ownership down.
There's no doubt in my mind vast majority of people plugging NFTs are evangelizing to try to increase their returns, and I understand the disgust at constant insincere pitches by people who really don't care what the future looks like, but I don't see the reason for panic.
