NFT people cannot comprehend where I'm coming from
- smoldesu 5y agoI'm not an advocate for crypto in any capacity, but if NFTs irk you this much then your best course of action is probably to ignore them?
- rvz 5y agoThere you go. I have already told them to just ignore them for a long time if they hate NFTs so much, yet they are finding it difficult to do that. Given that you will find Twitter users with ‘hexagon’ profile pictures, its going to get much harder for them to ignore them. Twitter themselves don’t care about their extreme ‘grief’ with NFTs. At this point, they might as well delete their Twitter accounts and move to Mastodon, where there are no hexagon profile pictures.
- smoldesu 5y ago> Given that you will find Twitter users with ‘hexagon’ profile pictures, its going to get much harder for them to ignore them. On the contrary, it's now easier than ever for third-party clients to segregate NFT users from non-NFT users
- dataangel 5y agoI don't find this level of panic warranted. They mention the horror of marriage licenses being on blockchain. Ok, so it was switched from one type of database to another. So what? Your marriage was tracked by the state authority before and it's tracked by the state authority after, they are just writing it down in a different place. "Digital abundance" is also a bit of a myth. Yes after somebody spends all the money and time to make something then it can be copied, but unless you expect the world to run on the backs of pure volunteers at some point you need a way to pay the people making the original work. Which is why we already have IP law, and so even if successful and someday NFT ownership becomes the basis for legal enforcement, it again will just be that people have changed where they write the ownership down. There's no doubt in my mind vast majority of people plugging NFTs are evangelizing to try to increase their returns, and I understand the disgust at constant insincere pitches by people who really don't care what the future looks like, but I don't see the reason for panic.
- randomhodler84 5y ago> I don’t want it to exist Too bad eevee, you don’t get to say if something exists or not. If it exists in the minds of the participants, and the memory of our computer systems it exists as much in real world as any other shared delusion. Trying to suppress technology you don’t not like is authoritarian. The best part is that everything in blockchain land is voluntary. It doesn’t require anyone believe it exists, it just does exist. Some people think it has value.
- saargrin 5y agoit nice to dream of this "digital abundance" but if creators want to get paid for their work , there does have to be a way to bestow certain privileges to people who pay im not saying NFT is the best possible solution, but its a start
