Yeah, I can totally relate. What I'm trying to point out in OP is a third way beyond "build all the things" and "reuse all the things others built" that doesn't get explored as often: build/reuse less. Do without. You're absolutely right that the tools we have are the best way to operate at scale. Do we always need to operate at scale? I think we are well-served by constantly questioning that, fractally on every decision all the way down.
