Moderna vaccine produces lower risk of breakthrough infections, hospitalization
- rossdavidh 5y agoIf you go to the CDC's website on this (just updated through Christmas Day): https://covid.cdc.gov/covid-data-tracker/#rates-by-vaccine-status https://covid.cdc.gov/covid-data-tracker/#rates-by-vaccine-s... ...and click on the button to break out results by "Vaccine Product", you see that the difference between vaccines is very small, and probably noise since it changes over time. For example, in September it showed Moderna being lower than Pfizer and Janssen higher, but most recently Janssen is actually the lowest. More likely, the difference between vaccines is in the random noise level. In any case, the difference is tiny compared to the difference between vaccinated and unvaccinated, or the difference between young and old. Or, for that matter, the difference between early September, late October, and Dec. 25. The "best" vaccine did not switch from Modern in early September to Jannsen by Christmas; they are all well worth getting, but not perfect.
