No, they do not. From the CDC: "those who were previously infected, both with or without prior vaccination, had the greatest protection." https://www.cdc.gov/media/releases/2022/s0120-covid-19-cases.html https://www.cdc.gov/media/releases/2022/s0120-covid-19-cases... This post is COVID misinformation.
Whatever findings there were before don't hold up in more recent studies. https://www.reuters.com/business/healthcare-pharmaceuticals/prior-covid-infection-more-protective-than-vaccination-during-delta-surge-us-2022-01-19/ https://www.reuters.com/business/healthcare-pharmaceuticals/...
While vaccination is still the better course of action — because (a) natural immunity requires getting COVID in the first place and (b) natural immunity and vaccination together offer stronger protection than either alone — we cannot bend the truth to manipulate people.
- epakai 5y agoThe science daily article seems to be limited to mRNA vaccines. While the CDC statement has no such limitation.
- torstenvl 5y agoApproximately 95.3% of fully vaccinated Americans received an mRNA vaccine. 9.8 million J&J doses administered out of 209 million vaccinated. J&J is a single-dose vaccine.
- Arnt 5y agoThe CDC link you provide explicitly disregards boosters. The study reported by Scitechdaily includes some/many people who've received booster doses.
- torstenvl 5y ago> The study reported by Scitechdaily includes some/many people who've received booster doses. No. The Scitechdaily link does not mention boosters. Neither does the Regenstrief page that links to. Neither does the CDC page that links to. Neither does the study PDF that that links to. Additionally, the study cited indirectly in OP took place January 2021-September 2021. Boosters were not approved until the end of September 2021, and only for the smallest, most at-risk populations. Boosters were not generally available until November 19th, almost two months after that study concluded. https://www.pfizer.com/news/press-release/press-release-detail/pfizer-and-biontech-receive-expanded-us-fda-emergency-use https://www.pfizer.com/news/press-release/press-release-deta...
- jb1991 5y agoIn the link, relevant now: > One important limitation to the study was that it ended before administration of vaccine booster doses was widespread.
- jb1991 5y agoIn your link: > Protection against Delta was highest, however, among people who were both vaccinated and had survived a previous COVID infection, and lowest among those who had never been infected or vaccinated, the study found.
