To give some context Queenstown is full of luxury accomodations and restaurants. If you have money it's a great place to be. Only Queenstown has no international tourists while our borders are shut. Most New Zealanders wealthy enough to holiday there live and work in Auckland. A flight like this might be trying to bring the two together.

Some people love that, I find it vile. 15 minutes drive in any direction gets you somewhere far better, even if you drive directly into the lake.
