- meepmorp 5y agoBack in the day, I had a dual proc Athlon XP workstation that also functioned as the main heating system for my apartment.
- masklinn 5y agoWith a P4 it’d have been a sauna instead. In reality you’d need pretty low heating needs for that to work, the bigger rigs would have a hard time reaching 1kW, which is not even a portable heater.
- Frenziefrenz 5y agoI do have very low heating needs. I doubt it's even possible for the apartment to drop under 17 degrees or so as long as the downstairs neighbors live in whatever kind of tropical temperatures they do. Besides the occasional push from the furnace all heat pretty much comes from our computers and ourselves (and that's really not much at all), enough to lift it to probably about 18.5.
- I_complete_me 5y agoOur main heat source as students was a HP 33S Scientific Calculator; on really cold nights we input sqrt(-1).
