> printers work without doing anything Any anecdotes? I have one: I've had this HP printer for years now. It's one of the... cheaper models that's more geared towards younger people (the app-downloading crowd). Anyway, that printer just would not work on Windows without installing some form of adware from HP. I tried everything, every obscure menu I could find to get the printer working. They really wanted me to put this thing on my network. On Linux, well... I plugged it in. And that's it. Software picks it up, works amazingly. I couldn't believe my eyes when it instantly recognised it.
