I have to disagree. It's tempting to reduce a language to just a means of communication, but it's one of the things that make us human. The language you speak when you grow up forms your cultural identity. I'm not sure which came first, that the language structure formed the culture or that the culture formed the language, but I think there's some truth to the statement.
