Ask HN: What are some great essay writers other than Paul Graham?
Today I was looking through Paul Grahams essays again. I find this format of writing very appealing. One topic per short text.
Then I realized that PG is the only one who's essays I read.
There must be so many more!
Can HN suggest some?
I wrote "essay writers" rather than "bloggers" because somehow I fear that bloggers have a different approach to writing. Something like "Hey fans, I have not written something for 3 days now. Sorry for that! Let me tell you about the great lasagna I cooked today ...".
What I am looking for is pieces of text someone has worked hard on because they had the feeling they have something meaningful to say.

Joel Spolsky wrote quite a few interesting essays. If you are not just referring to the tech world, then there is an awful lot out there. Start with Montaigne, maybe, and work your way forward chronologically.
- JonathanBeuys 5y agoI am totally not referring to the tech world! Every aspect of life is interesting. But each text should be bring some new perspective or clarity on some aspect of the world. What is great about PG is that he clearly states what his essays are about. Example: "A Plan for Spam - I think it's possible to stop spam, and that content-based filters are the way to do it". This is the type of writing that draws me in and makes me happy.
