Tim Cook and Sundar Pichai: lobbying senators against antitrust legislation
- donmcronald 5y ago> Apple said that if the bill became law it would be forced to allow users to “sideload” apps onto iPhones and iPads as it does Macs — meaning installing them from sources outside the App Store. Apple says this threatens the security of its users by allowing unvetted apps onto devices I think the real fear Apple and Google both have is that if alternate app stores become normalized they’ll get out-competed by superior curation via genre focused stores like kids, games, business, etc.. For example, I’d love to have a games store that forbids ads and micro transactions in favor of charging a fair price upfront.
