I thought it was weird at first, but I grew to really enjoy the way they look. It isn't too difficult to figure out, because even if you don't use ligatures when you look at one you know right away it is an unusual symbol and you need to look at it a little closer to figure out what it is. Also, if something doesn't turn red when you swap an = for a == then it's time to re-evaluate code coverage. Edit: I should note that I mainly write C and C++. Other languages may make ligatures less pleasant
