I would've expected for them to change to be "4 GB VRAM is not enough for 1440p Games" and marketing the new card for 1080P.
Though I guess removing this marketing statement completely avoids publicly stating that it is a compromise directly.
- stevefan1999 5y agoI have a GTX 1060 6GB before, and 1080p performance was barely enough, especially for games like PUBG, I have to set everything to Low graphics settings to get a decent 60fps. Strangely enough for Fortnite it can run Ultra for 100fps most of the time (90% of the time outside battle). Maybe at the end of the day, it depends on optimizarion I guess?
- rasz 5y agoAt least its not fake 4GB like Nvidia sold 3 gens ago :) https://www.pcgamer.com/why-nvidias-gtx-970-slows-down-using-more-than-35gb-vram/ https://www.pcgamer.com/why-nvidias-gtx-970-slows-down-using...
- southerntofu 5y agoI have no idea about the games you mentioned specifically, but there's no reason you couldn't have a 1080p scene rendered at 60fps with way less resources than this, given proper optimization.
