- friendlydog 5y agoIt’s company policy never to, imply ownership in the event of a bartap… always use the indefinite article a bartap, never your bartap.

- dandare 5y agoFunny how I immediately imagined WW2 when I read 'Maikop'. Now I am down the rabbit hole on Wikipedia's Maykop culture :)
- Mikeb85 5y agoWhile it's cool they found some of these long tubes or straws, we've known that Sumerians would communally drink from beer barrels through long straws for a long time. There's art depicting it, descriptions on tablets, etc...
- someotherperson 5y agoIs there any indication that the Maykops were Sumerian?
- Mikeb85 5y agoMy bad, they're a little outside Mesopotamia. Skimmed over the map of where Maykop is located. They're close enough they were obviously influenced by them 4k years ago though.
- anentropic 5y agoAccurate or not, the title of the article is "Party like a Sumerian"
- diroussel 5y agoI think the point is that these particular tubes were not recognised as drinking tubes until now.
