I think there's one key term that hasn't been mentioned in relation to this debate much: accountability. Engineers are a countable for their work. I am accountable if my code fucks up in production. An engineer is accountable if a foundation fails. Not "how bad are the consequences", but "am I accountable if something does goes wrong"
