It's absurd NPR is still federally funded. The days where analog radio was the principal form of communication are long gone (in contrast to smartphone radios).
- sschueller 5y agoI disagree because you loose press freedom, fairness and actual good reporting in favor of profits. Sure maybe in the US federal funding mean spreading government garbage but in other countries federally funded systems are vital to keep the balance and keep the corruption and cooperate greed at bay.
- InTheArena 5y agoThere is a difference between press freedom, and government funded. most press (including NPR) have mostly been partisan for well over a decade. NPR regularly sold their donor lists to the Democratic Party.
