Now it's almost definitely under 4, and we already have roughly 1.25 degrees under our belt? And coming out of an ice age......
I think we just wait it out another 10 years, and they will revise it down to 3 degrees, and will have to admit that the feedback functions this entire hysteria is based on are not coming to fruition.
Remember, you don't have to be an expert. Just pick a single easy metric, and follow it. Sea level rise is my gold standard.
- drekk 5y agoYou don't need to reach 3, or 4, or 8 to render swathes of the world functionally uninhabitable. At present trajectories Dubai and Miami will reach lethal wet bulb temperatures within my lifetime. Science refines models, you seem to be under the impression that makes it hysterical. Isaac Asimov might disabuse you of that notion: https://hermiene.net/essays-trans/relativity_of_wrong.html https://hermiene.net/essays-trans/relativity_of_wrong.html Also it's really cute to try focusing on, say, sea-level rise when that's probably the safest consequence of a warming planet. Crop yields are already decreasing, refugee crises will become more common, drought is already becoming a permanent facet of life for the west coast and Midwest, nitrogen and phosphorous cycles are presently unsustainable, etc. Maybe we could just talk the economics of it since that's the only language seeming to motivate people. If you don't care about a planet that supports human life maybe consider the impact to GDP
