Really common to do it in spare time as an intro to doing it as a consultant. Esp. if you have electronics skills it's not hard to find work. As a "side hustle" though, it's generally about selling a hardware product, a tool, or your skills (SkillaaS). Embedded is a broad term though, say a bit more about your experience and interests and maybe someone will pop up with pointers.
