I disagree about the "ticker." Items moving on a page without my request and particularly without any purpose are annoying to me at the best.
Sadly, such nonsense is quite common in modern web design.
- toqy 5y agoPlenty is wrong with the modern web, but this is harmless and seems to fit the theme well
- alpaca128 5y agoI'm usually the first to complain about things like that as well as I'm very easily distracted, but in this case I think it's not that bad and looks kinda nice. I still wish websites would not only respect the disabled autoplay setting but also stop animations completely in that state. But right now it seems crashing video player UIs are the best we can get.
- toqy 5y agoThere's prefers-reduced-motion[1] but I don't think many sites actually implement anything for it. This one is open source though so someone that cares could submit a PR 1. https://developer.mozilla.org/en-US/docs/Web/CSS/@media/prefers-reduced-motion https://developer.mozilla.org/en-US/docs/Web/CSS/@media/pref...
- alpaca128 5y agoGreat to know, maybe one day this stuff catches on. tl;dr for enabling this in Firefox: about:config > add numeric ui.prefersReducedMotion field > set value to 1
- BlueTemplar 5y agoGeocities might disagree about the "modern" part...
