After setting up pfBlockerNG, I realized that my partner's Peloton was contacting different ad networks many times per minute 24/7. (mobile-collector.newrelic.com api.segment.io sessions.bugsnag.com) It is the most actively blocked device on my network now on a VLAN of its own in case it is probing my network. I still worry that it is recording our conversations. I feel sorry for people who own these, do not realize this, and do not have a good adblocker firewall.

- throwawaynor88 5y agoSo Pelotons are like smart TVs? Do they work without internet? What do they use internet for other than spying? Does it have a mic?
- kornhole 5y agoIt is an Android device that uses internet to show videos. It has a speaker and probably a mic. The things we put up with for love..
- ianschmitz 5y agoThose URLs aren’t ad networks.
- kornhole 5y agoThey may just be data collectors, but I did not analyze the encrypted traffic. They are called every minute even when nobody is in the saddle. DNS block does not impair the functionality. So I assume as did the maintainers of the block lists that they are collecting data unnecessary to user functionality.
