I lost my dad thanksgiving weekend and lost my dog right after new years. It could be I'm still grieving for my dad but losing the dog has really hurt. It's a different type of guilt and loss when you were the one who raised them and ultimately had to made the choice to put them down. I think losing a pet might have more in common with losing a child than losing a parent.
