I have a similar story. I had the BAT chorded keyboard back in the 90s/2000s. I tried the Georgi and others to do one-handed chording. I went down the mechanical keyboard rabbit hole only to discover pretty keyboards with poor ergonomics. I currently type on a Kinesis Advantage2, and I love it. I switch to my Wacom Cintiq 16 in my right hand, and my Belkin (now Razer) Nostromo in my left for keyboard shortcuts and macros. I am going to bite on the Charachorder, because it makes sense: let the onboard engine autocorrect and just get the product out to the screen/program. It seems you can create your own layers for coding by language too. I am a beginner in Dvorak (40 wpm), but I switch easily between QWERTY and Dvorak. I am interested in buying their engine and putting it in my Kinesis if at all possible. There's certainly room inside, and others have modded it for other boards. I wish I could just speak my text, but I am self-conscious when I do it, and dictating in public, although more acceptable given everyone is on bluetooth ear plugs, is a generational bias for me (57 yrs. old). Anyway, I'll let you know if it is a wasted of time and money when I get it in April 2022!
