Here's a hot take: By sabotaging the project, the author has quite clearly expressed that they do not want people to be using their software anymore, even though, legally speaking, the license allows them to do so. Anybody who continues using this new fork should therefore never again complain about evil corporations making money from FOSS and not giving back just because they're legally allowed to. This is the exact same thing.
