Ubuntu Monospace is the first free font I've seen which approaches TheSans Mono's level of quality.

- nagnatron 15y agoActually, Consolas is extremely similar.
- mistermustard 15y agoLucas de Groot, who designed TheSans, also did Calibri and Consolas. http://www.lucasfonts.com/case-studies/calibri-consolas/ http://www.lucasfonts.com/case-studies/calibri-consolas/
- splicer 15y agoConsolas isn't free (although, at $35 it's not as painful a purchase as TheSans Mono Condensed).
- Dejital 15y agoRalph Levien's Inconsolata [1] is the strongest attempt I've yet seen at reproducing the quality of TheSansMono. [1]: http://levien.com/type/myfonts/inconsolata.html http://levien.com/type/myfonts/inconsolata.html
