Are they really though? It’s very common to put down something like “Python/R/Julia” as a way to indicate that they need some experience with a data science programming language but the actual job is in only one of those languages and it’s almost always Python.
I can't see any Julia jobs in the link you shared.
- galfarragem 5y agoI believe they are not "Julia-first" jobs but at least the job market is now aware that Julia exists. It's a start.
- jstx1 5y agoThey're not Julia-second or -third either. Having the name in job ads isn't a new thing, it's been the case since at least 2018. In the past year I've looked at hundreds of data science / ML / scientific computing / software developer job postings - 0 of them required Julia (also none for R and MATLAB). It was all Python. Of course my sample might be biased and those jobs do exist (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Julia_(programming_language)#Notable_uses https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Julia_(programming_language)#N...) but Julia is still tiny and I certainly wouldn't say that the job market is aware or interested in it.
