I'm generally able to adapt to new languages and technologies relatively quickly. I'm able to build at least simple applications from scratch and have at least basic understanding of all the component parts and how they fit together. I'm generally able to measure the benefits and drawbacks of individual pieces of technology and where to make certain tradeoffs when architecting an application.
Now, I still have a lot to learn and I'm sure I can't do the above tasks anywhere near as well as an experienced Sr. Developer, but based on others anecdotal experience at least this doesn't seem to be common in many Jr. devs
- qeternity 5y agoI mean this in the best way possible: I don’t think you have a good understanding of what a “junior dev” does at the places you’re describing. I have come across many self-taught and bootcamp types. They often compare themselves to the people they know, which is not who FANMG are targeting. I think the harsh reality is most likely that your skill set is not as advanced as you believe.
- HNqThrowaway 5y agoCould you go into more detail as to what exactly a Jr dev is at those places then? If I'm not making an accurate comparison then I'd like to know specifically what area(s) I'm lacking.
