Battery life when using the EVF (vs viewfinder in SLR) seems to be the only downside currently with Canon (I think Sony's is better). Hopefully over time this will improve.

That's really the only disadvantage I came up with. I was also really nervous about lag and blackouts, but once I actually used one, even in the older R, I realized it was a non-issue. It's still an incredibly strange concept for me, and admittedly I'm not sure I'll ever be fully comfortable with it. However from a practical standpoint, there's really no issue.
